Internships

Are you interested in an internship with RCPD?
The Richland County Park District provides paid and unpaid winter and summer internships to high school and college students who are interested in the environmental science field and have shown initiative in helping achieve the missions and goals of the park district. RCPD offers hands on opportunities for two students to grow towards career goals in the environmental science field each year in either Environmental Education and Public Relations or Natural Resource Management.

Each internship has a specific area of focus with overlap between them. In addition to daily responsibilities, interns will have opportunities to pursue special interest projects. Past examples include, maintaining the RCPD intern blog or surveying, monitoring, and mapping flora and fauna species. Interns will also be provided with ample educational opportunities for professional development and networking by attending conferences and field trips across the state of Ohio to further their knowledge in Ohio Natural History.

Education and Public Relations
This internship focuses on building education and public relation skills through educational planning, animal embassador care and handling, outreach, and creating press releases. Interns will work closely with staff to develop and implement programming. Growing interpersonal skills through efficient communication will be key components of this internship as interns learn to engage the public building community relationships.
