Dr. Burwell

Coroner

Dr. Burwell started out in the Coroner’s Office under the previous Coroner, Dr. Stewart Ryckman, as the Deputy Coroner. Dr. Burwell was elected Coroner in the beginning of 2017.

Dr. Burwell grew up in the Danville area, and graduated from Danville High School in 1978. He later went to THE Ohio State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Zoology (1982), and his Master’s in Science (1984) in Zoology. He went on to Ohio University where he received his Doctor of Osteopathy in 1988. He completed his externship from Brentwood Hospital, completed his Internship at Doctor’s Hospital (1989), and finished his residency at Doctor’s Hospital (1991).

Dr. Burwell started his Family Practice in September of 1991 in Mansfield Ohio and switched to having his Family practice with Ohio Health Physician Group, Primary Care in October of 2013.

Dr. Burwell is also a chair on the regional steering committee of OhioHealth Mansfield, The Medical Director of Crystal Care Nursing Home, and it the Medical Director of Richland Public Health.

In Dr. Burwell’s free time you will find him on the golf course, hanging out with his children and grandchildren or traveling with his wife.
