Successful Co-Parenting -A Divorce Education Program for Parents

Divorce is a very stressful experience for parents and children. Although spouses may decide to end their marriage, their children will always need both their parents to be part of their lives.

This 2 hour educational program will focus on what children need during and after the Divorce and how parents can help them succeed. It is conducted by qualified professionals from OSU Extension.

All parents with minor children who are parties to a Divorce, Dissolution, or Legal Separation action must attend one Co-Parenting class by local rule of the Richland County Court of Common Pleas, Domestic Relations Division.

In order to participate in the Seminar, all participants must have access to a smartphone, tablet or computer with audio capabilities. If you do not have one available, your attorney may be able to provide one for you. If you do not have an attorney, the Court will provide one to you during the Court’s hours (Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). You must contact the Court Administrator (Phone: 419-774-5647) as soon as possible to set up a time and date to use the Court’s equipment.

Each party will register online and set up a sign in individually to attend this class.

A certificate of attendance will be given to participants who complete the entire Seminar. You are required to file a copy of the certificate with your attorney of record. If you are representing yourself, you will need to file the certificate directly with the Clerk of Courts. The Clerk of Courts will require your case number on the top of the certificate. This must be filed prior to your final hearing. After you complete this mandatory Parenting Seminar, your case will be scheduled for final hearing.

After you complete this mandatory Parenting seminar your Divorce, Dissolution or Legal Separation will be scheduled for a final hearing.
